Update 1.3.4

Animals, Chao, and Wisps. Oh my!

• A new encounter type Wandering Creatures has been added to the rulebook

  • GMs can help characters get in touch with nature with a variety of environmental modifiers, dependent on what type of animals live there

    • Animals: Alert players to hostile enemy activity in the area, giving them a jump on their initiative rolls and recon they perform before the battle begins

    • Chao: Inform players about the natural environment and help them collect extra Rings

    • Wisps: Greatly assist with actions, granting a +2 Advantage boost to certain skill checks

The road to update 1.4.0 continues. This isn't quite what people usually have in mind when they ask if Chao are in the game, but these encounters will add flavor to natural areas and introduce dynamic environmental modifiers for players to explore. These rules will integrate with the new Technique Type in a future update where expanded guidelines will be provided, but in the meantime, GMs can integrate these random encounters to spice things up at times of their choosing!
