Terminology Overhaul and More Touch-ups
Critical Success and Critical Failure is now Critical Trick and Critical Slip, as the original phrasing was misleading
Added several items and tools to the Items and Gear section
Consolidated TP recovery rules to one section
Simplified results resolution in Zone Challenges section and revised voice for consistency
Reworked Determine Signature Attacks and Determine Talents sections of Character Creation, as rules for both steps were intermingled with each other
Modified the phrasing of the Tricks and Slips description, as the original phrasing was a tad ambiguous with what constituted "rolling doubles"
Slightly adjusted wording on applying crits to Barrier Shield to make order of operations more clear
Fixed a typo in the Intro Adventure that referred to an incorrect number of doors
Additional formatting touch-up
Community feedback has highlighted a few areas the rules could be clarified. The most prominent item is the wholesale renaming of the "Criticals", as I realized it's become a vestige of the earliest versions of the system where Critical Failure subtracted from results, often resulting in the check failing. Renaming them to Critical Tricks/Slips is much more descriptive, since they are essentially heightened versions of those parallel results. The cheat sheets have been updated to reflect this terminology change.
On a more fun note, I've also added some additional regional items and tools to the lists. I hope players find them intriguing!
Silver Moon Rings - Upgrade a single Trick to a Critical Trick
Chaos Cola - Increase your initiative placement by 1 for a round
Meanwhile, in the tools section I added a couple of items from The Mystery of Mirage Island and tweaked them a bit to fit better in the game's current design philosophy, the flashlight and rope. Time will tell if players get much mileage out of them, but I figured they would be nice options to have.
The door typo fix is strange, could have sworn it was fixed in an earlier update, but it was seemingly reverted or overlooked at one point!
Whatever the case, hopefully these refinements will ease some confusion for players moving forward.
